Introduction
AI Assistants
Teach Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot and other coding assistants to write idiomatic Kipchak code, with the Kipchak agent skill, llms.txt and AGENTS.md.
Coding assistants learn frameworks from their training data, and most of the PHP they have seen is Laravel, Symfony or plain Slim. Without guidance, an assistant tends to write Kipchak code the same way: global helpers, inline response arrays and request state in statics. Kipchak provides three things that correct this.
The Kipchak agent skill
The Kipchak agent skill is an Agent Skill: a set of instructions an assistant loads when it works on a Kipchak project. It covers:
- routes, thin controllers, DTOs that carry the OpenAPI contract, models and tests, with a complete resource as an example;
- configuration, drivers (including Doctrine) and writing a new driver;
- global, group and route middleware, their order, and writing new middleware;
- what is safe in FrankenPHP worker mode;
- every free and Enterprise driver and middleware.
The skill is MIT-licensed and contains no Enterprise package code.
Claude Code
Add the marketplace and install the plugin:
/plugin marketplace add kipchak-dev/skills
/plugin install kipchak@kipchak
Alternatively, copy the skills/kipchak folder of the repository into .claude/skills/ in a project, or into ~/.claude/skills/ for every project.
Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot and other assistants
Assistants that read Agent Skills look for them in a skills folder. Copy skills/kipchak into the project's .agents/skills/ folder, which Codex reads and Cursor and VS Code also recognise:
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/kipchak-dev/skills.git /tmp/kipchak-skills
mkdir -p .agents/skills && cp -R /tmp/kipchak-skills/skills/kipchak .agents/skills/
Each assistant's documentation also names its own folders, such as .cursor/skills/ for Cursor and .github/skills/ for GitHub Copilot.
AGENTS.md
Projects created from the starter project include an AGENTS.md file, which most coding assistants read before they change a project. It describes that project: where routes, controllers, DTOs and configuration are kept, how to add an endpoint, how to run the tests, and the rules worker mode requires. Keep it up to date as the project grows; the skill describes Kipchak in general, and AGENTS.md describes your API.
llms.txt
llms.txt is an index of this documentation for language models, generated from the documentation itself. Give it to an assistant that cannot install skills, or that needs a page the skill does not cover.
